Pre-game: Michigan State

Posted by Mikehawk on February 14th, 2006

The day is upon us, Hawkize.

Iowa hosts Michigan State tonight for chance to garner their ninth win in Big 10 conference play and a spot a full game ahead of Ohio State for first place. The win would inch the Hawkeyes closer to the outright Big 10 title, something they haven’t won in over 20 years.

My prediction?

Tonight, shit hits the fan. Tom Izzo is going to be so sore from the beating Sparty is going to take in this game that he’ll be blinking messages to muscle-flexing Shannon Brown at his bedside. “Help, Shannon” Coach Izzo will cry from his deathbed, “My eyes are tired and my anus is sore. What, oh what could be causing me such pain right now?”

The Hawkeyes, baby. Look for Iowa to eliminate Michigan State center Paul “I’m a big sissy bitch” Davis from the lineup nearly immediately when Doug Thomas throws down a thundering dunk, shattering the backboard, and cuts Davis with a shard of the remants. Don’t expect Maruice “My God, who the fuck names their kid Maurice” Ager to help much either- Jeff Horner is going to kill him with his old knee brace.

I see Adam Haluska dumping in 35 points, Erek Hansen blocking at least fifteen shots, and the Hawkeyes not only breaking 100- but 150. We’re talking Desert Storm here, Hawk fans- it’s going to be ugly.

If you read this before you start pre-gaming the brewskies on the way to Carver tonight, please- let Tom know that we appreciate his Oompa-Loompaish stature. Make sure to chant “Sit Down Midget” whenever the lurch stands up to protest a foul against his team, and for those of you down by the basket- please, do your best to insult him into tears.

With that being said, I have a “Where’s Waldo” type game for all of you. It’s called “Where’s State?” I dare you to find ISU in this list, the AP Top 25.

1 Connecticut
2 Duke
3 Memphis
4 Villanova
5 Gonzaga
6 Texas
7 George Washington
8 Tennessee
9 Pittsburgh
10 Florida
11 West Virginia
12 Ohio State
13 Boston College
14 Illinois
15 UCLA
16 Michigan State
17 Georgetown
18 Iowa
19 Oklahoma
20 Washington
21 North Carolina State
22 Kansas
23 North Carolina
24 Bucknell
25 LSU

Keep looking- they just might pop up in 11 months or so.

ON IOWA. GO HAWKS!

Maybe it’s because I love this site, or maybe I’m just going crazy out here in West Lafayette, but on TV it sounded like the Iowa fans were cheering “You’ve Been Hawkized” at the end of the game. Please tell me I heard right.

P.S. Hansen has more blocks this season (72) than the entire Iowa State team combined (54).

I hope you’re right. We’ll have to follow up on that and see if that’s really what they were chanting. We submitted “hawkize” to the Urban Dictionary (http://add.urbandictionary.com/verify.php?code=7b97e0b22d&function=submit), and it’s up for review as of right now. You can check the link to see its approval status.

    The DMACC Chapter… lmao

I have a Wells Fargo Chapter forming. There are a few people here that visit for a laugh. It’s just too bad they don’t take it as seriously as we do.

    …their time will come…

What a great day. Iowa State loses to Nebraska by 10 at home and “hawkize” is accepted by the Urban Dictionary. I’d say the word has officially become slang now that it’s listed there.
