I’m going to miss these guys.
I’m back, and I apologize.
It’s been awhile since my last post- almost a week since I posted anything of substinance, but I’m back. I had a few people ask me if my fingers were broken, or what the deal was lately, and I only have one excuse.
I completely don’t remember the last five days. Moving on…
Tomorrow is Senior Night at Carver Hawkeye Arena
Tomorrow night is the last night for Bru, Jeff, DT, E-Train, and Justin. What these guys, especially the first four mentoined, have done for this program, is tantamount to almost any other senior class that has ever spent four years on campus. I know, you’ll naysay and tell me they’ve only reached the NCAA tournament once, but the effort and fire that they brought to the floor for the past four years (two in Erek and DT’s case) will be long remembered by the Hawkeye Nation.
What am I going to miss?
Brunner:
I’m going to miss Brunner’s fucking amazing spin move that, after four years of the same thing, no one can seem to figure out. I’ll miss his fire on the floor, his amazing performances (albeit in losing efforts) on the road at Illinois, and his emotion. Brunner is probably my favorite Hawkeye basketball player ever, and I’d be lying if I told you I won’t have a tear in my eye when he walks off the court tomorrow night.

Horner:
What can you say about him? He bleeds black and gold almost as much as me (I committed to the Hawkeyes out of the womb, sorry Jeff), and proved it when he took a 30-pound brace onto the floor for a stretch of games this season. Without him, our team is a shadow of what it can be- this was evident during the ISU game. What I’ll miss most about Jeff is his ability to fearlessly step up and take that pivitol shot- whether it be a 30-footer or a jumper from the elbow. I’ll always remember his single-handed wins in Maui and West Lafayette- and I’ll always remember that goddamn bloody nose because of Grahm Brown. (Yeah, Brown- you’re a piece of shit.)

Doug Thomas
I think it’s safe to say, Doug, that we’re going to miss this.

Erek Hansen
Erek brought to the table some of the best shot blocking available in the nation in the last years. Yeah, he played limited minutes, but I’ll never forget the crowd chanting his name at the Minnesota game during his coming out party. He’s turned into an offensive threat to go along with his stunning defense. We’ll miss you, E-train.

From Hawkize, we thank you for your effort.
Now, please, fucking kill Wisconsin. Please.

go purdue!!!!
My day is made!!! Hawks win!!!! Clowns lose!!! (again) It doesn’t get any better than that!!!
damn ohio state won. now we just better win the big ten tournament!
I, too, am going to miss the Iowa seniors. I can’t believe the assholes managed a 3-9 career mark against Illinois — how the hell did they win 3??!?
I have never even heard of Doug Thomas and Erek (thanks for the dickwad spelling ma and pa)is as useless as Les Jespen or whatever the dork’s name was.
Brunner — great effort always. Tough guy who travels as bad as Ewing and gets away with tons of shit. Still, big brass ones.
Horner — I can see how Iowa fans love him. To bad he has never been a top 4-5 guard in the conference. See you in Spain or wherever you end up.
Horner not a Top 4 guard? Dee Brown is a fag.
Horner not a top 4 guard? Please. Dee Brown narrowly edges Horner in stats, but Horner has him beat in assists per game and 3pt %, which one could argue are the most important categories for guards. I dont see how you can one: automatically say hes better than Horner and two: bump him down to 4-5 in the conference. Who are 2,3,4??
What I (and I imagine most Hawk fans) love about this year’s team is that, in a state that doesn’t produce a lot of basketball players and at a football school, we can field at team that can compete with anyone and most of our starters are from Iowa. This is a special year for Iowa basketball and its a great group of seniors. Thanks for the memories Jeff, Greg, Erek, and Doug.
On a side note, Ohio State is not a school. Its a corporation bent on nation wide athletic domination. BCS bowl winners and outright Big Ten basketball champs? Something at that school is not kosher.
First off, has anyone here ever seen the OSU campus? It is fucking huge … damn near as big as Iowa City all by itself. The people in Columbus are jackasses, the women are not hot at all and the whole place is a pit.
Fuck their cheating asses.
As for Horner, I admit to having to reconsider. I agree that he is better than number 4-5 in the Big Ten and am willing to entertain arguments for 2-3. Dee hasn’t had a great year, but you will all see when draft day comes what the difference is …
Draft day has little to do with who’s better right now. Dee might very well be a better NBA prospect because he’s from the street and can play NBA basketball, but Horner is better for his team and there’s no way around it. Horton is too busy choking his girlfriend to get my vote for shit.
Horner is the man.
Wait wait wait, Oskee ouch ouch. I’m pretty sure you have not been to Ohio State because Iowa City is smaller that Ohio State. And Illinois, And Michigan, And Michigan State, And etc. If you want to get a ruler out and measure, be my guest. Just make sure to measure your big ass mouth too. That will make Ripley’s Believe It or Not.
Hey engineer — I meant that the geographical size of the OSU campus is enormous and spread out all over Columbus, making it about the size of Iowa City. They have over 60,000+ undergrads, too, so you missed my point. OSU is just like Minnesota — if you go to high school in the state, have a 2.5 average and can tie your shoes you get in.
Well, then, I should be measuring MY big ass mouth. It should be very big. What I though you meant was Univ. size vs. Univ size, not geographically. Well, I am just going to shut up now.
I’d trust Oskee knows his stuff about basketball. He’s on of the few I’d ever ask for a betting tip… even though I did absolutely kill him in the pool last year (if only Illinois would have dived against AZ like I predicted.)
