The Hawkize.com All Big-10 Team
It’s back again: The Hawkize.com All Big 10 teams- this time, basketball style.
This list was voted on by myself. If you don’t like it, I don’t care.
First Team:
Jeff Horner, Iowa: Jeff is hands down the best point guard in the conference. He’s able to light it up from downtown from time to time, but what he possesses in terms of leadership by far surpasses his shooting ability. He leads the league in assists and doesn’t dress like a fag (see: Dee Brown) or look like Chris Rock (Sorry, Cameron Taylor). This was a no-brainer.
Adam Haluska, Iowa: Adam is a streaky scorer and was held in check over the last few games, but this doesn’t take away that he was an important cog in the defensive system that was the Iowa Hawkeyes this year. He played better defense than any guard(except the next guy mentoined) in the Big 10 - yeah, even you, Shannon “I’ve got a girls name” Borwn - and thus deserves the nod.
Mike Hednerson, Iowa: Henderson is probably the best defender in the Big 10 and can take the ball to the rack at will. Henderson, at times, looks like the professor from Code Red Tour (except black.) He’s straight gangster- and that gets him a spot on the first team.
Erek Hansen, Iowa: I know what you’re thinking: “Of course Erek is first team, Duh!” If you were thinking that, you’d be correct. If you disagree, I think Erek would put your opinion into the third row of seats at Carver, much like he did to nearly every shot that the rest of the pussy centers in the Big 10 tried to put up against him. Why don’t we call Dial’s asshole up and ask him if he’s still sore from the pounding Hansen gave him in Iowa City? First team for sure.
Greg Brunner, Iowa: Brunner is the best player in the Big 10. Disagree? Fist yourself. He led the Big 10 in rebounding, charges taken, screams after 3 point plays, and empty hair follacles. Have you ever seen a Big Ten power forward lead in that many statistical categories? I didn’t think so.
League Co-MVP: Greg Brunner/Jeff Horner.
Second Team:
Tony Freeman, Iowa: Freeman provided a spark off the bench for the Hawks in his first year of play in the Big 10, stepping up and hitting the occasional trey to set the stage for a Hawkeye run. Freeman’s spot on the second team, though, is awarded mostly in part for his off-the-backboard alley oop against Wartburg to none other than..
Doug Thomas, Iowa: Doug is the hardest dunker in the Big 10. Not many men can give me erections, but Doug’s electrifying dunks come mighty close some days. Shannon Brown’s dignity is still sitting somewhere near the free throw line in Carver, thanks to Doug. Whenever you hear the thunder, take cover- just ask Brian Butch.
Alex Thompson, Iowa: I know- he’s got some improvement to be had, but he’s a solid defensive player and is better than anyone from Illinois. I hate Illinois. Seriously, fuck them and their cheating, orange-wearing faggott asses. I’m looking forward to a matchup with them in the Big Ten tournament to let them know who their daddy is. Oh yeah, Alex Thompson is good too.
Carlton Reed, Iowa: He saw limited action, but my justification for this is that he hit the last basket in the biggest blowout we had all season- a 3-pointer against Michigan. I hate Michigan. They’re a bunch of cheaters too.
Seth Gorney, Iowa: Two words: Cross-bows! When Gorney threw up the gangster X after his dunk against hapless Michigan, it set the tone for a badass year next year. Oh yeah.
Honorable Mentoin: Justin Wieck, Iowa; Kurt Looby, Iowa; Ryan Kennedy, Iowa; Dan Bohall, Iowa; J.R. Angle, Iowa
Coach of the Year: Craig Neal, Iowa
ON IOWA. GO HAWKS!

Edited.

some men give you erections?
Haha
does anyone know what time the winner of michigan/minnesota will be playing iowa? its wednesday right??
I believe its we play the winner of the Minnesota/Michigan game Friday at 5:40pm.
wow not till friday? cool.
im thinkin michian would be a little better…
can i be assistant coach of the year?
yes michigan would be better cuz minnesota can fuck teams up when there on but congrats to the HAWKS on their 17-0 record at home. What i found to be an interesting fact was that none of the seniors have ever beatin wisconsin until our last home game but still kinda weird stat. GO HAWKS!
nice selections….except Alex Thompson. Im sorry but this kid couldnt make the b12 honorable mention team.
I warned Mikehawk about Thompson. I covered him for part of his prep career and he sucks. I can’t believe he is at Iowa. Kansas and Oklahoma both recruited him too, but gave up midway through his senior year when it was clear he sucked. I am sorry Hawk fans are stuck with him.
I’m going to have to agree about Thompson. That guy really fucking sucks. When he got in during our loss to Illinois he had about 3 fouls in 4 minutes. He needs to leave with Alford. I vote take him off the 2nd team and put in Justin Wieck instead
second that
or put brett wessels on the team instead, he had the best shooting % for most of the year (1 out of 1, but still)
Congrats to Baldy for making Big 10 first-team. I notice both Dee Brown and James Augustine were on the list but not Jeff Horner. I also note it has been 9 — yes, 9 — years since Iowa has had a good enough player to make first team while the Illini regularly stock the squad. Hmmm (but big ups to Brunny anyway, he deserved it).
Hey oskee-wow-wow: Go fuck yourself.
I wish I had a decent camera to take a picture of all the black and gold here this morning…
what time is the game 2morrow? i dint catch it
1240

Ohio State and Iowa will square off in the title battle at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The action can be seen on CBS.
thats eastern time, so its at 2:30
Probably the best quote I’ve ever heard from Steve Alford: “Jeff Horner has imposed his will on the tournament.”
…and an article to go with it:
