Good Riddance
As expected, Alex Thompson transferred to Iowa State. That’s good news for Hawk fans because it opens a spot for someone who is actually good to play.
It also means that we get to play against Alex Thompson in the future, which is a good thing considering that he turned the ball over once for every 2.3 points he produced. In comparison, Greg Brunner scored nearly 6 points for every turnover, and Adam Haluska scored nearly 8 points for every turnover he made.
Thompson also shot a dismal 31.2% from the field, second lowest among anyone that scored a point this season. The only player colder than Alex Thompson was Carlton Reed, and we’re not going to miss him either.

I could not be happier about this one. I actually had one of my friends from ISU tell me they were glad to have him because “he’s the shit dude”. I wanted to say that that is all he will be for him…a big ‘ol piece of shit on the floor! Good riddence Alex!
Whenever I went to a game at Carver, anytime Thompson had the ball and looked like he was going to shoot there were a considerable number of people who would shout NO!!! Yeah, he’s a pile.

The fucking left-wing wackos in the NCAA have declared that Illinois’ use of Illini/Fighting Illini/Chief Illiniwek/images of the Chief, etc. are no longer allowed.

All college fans should agree that a school has the right to use whatever name they want (shy of Niggaz, FUJEWS, etc).
Some notes:
1. The Illinwek tribe (actually a confederation) is EXTINCT. They do not exist anymore.
2. The name “illinois” itself is the French translation of the Algonquin Indian word meaning “they are men”, so no racism there.
3. It is to honor the Illini Indians, who were cheated and butchered, that the school uses the name.

True Illinois has had the more prestigious basketball program. But you pull the basketball argument Oskee, we pull the football argument. I think we can leave it at that becuase I know that no Illini fan wants to try to defend that train wreck of a program.
That really is bullshit about the NCAA ruling. I’ve never been to an athletic event at the University of Illinois, but I have a hard time believing that a “hostile and abusive” atmosphere existed at those events because the schools nickname is a reference to an Indian tribe. Its really hard to see the logic in the rulling, as Florida State is off the hook but North Dakota (fighting Sioux) and Illinois are in hot water. Apparently the NCAA is only concerned about getting a permission slip from the tribe in question and imagery, as “Bradley University previously removed all Native American imagery associated with its athletics programs and only kept the generic nickname “Braves.” Based on information contained in Bradley’s appeal, the Executive Committee found Bradley demonstrated its ability to provide an environment that is not hostile or abusive and one that is consistent with the NCAA constitution and commitment to diversity, respect and sportsmanship.”
