And I Thought Ames Sucked…

Posted by ZoundBrigade on November 03rd, 2006

On the football field, tOSU is top notch.  The whole roster is jammed with talented, athletic players and it seems they are competing for a BCS Bowl every year.  Even though an envelope of money might find its way into a players hands every now and then, or a player will use the “courtesy car” from the dealer for a couple years months weeks, in general, I respect tOSU.

Their fans and the city of Columbus (or ”C-bus” as those tossers like to call it), on the other hand, I would place somewhere inbetween a cockroach and that crap that accumulates in your mouth when you get really thirsty.  Why go off on tOSU fans and Columbus you ask?  Just watch this video that the Columbus Dispatch released from the 2002 Michigan vs. Ohio State game.  I think we all know what passion is as fans, but this stuff is abusive, disgusting, and has no place anywhere.  When people have to sell there tickets to the game because they don’t want anything to happen to them…there is a problem.  When the stairwell to a parking ramp turns into a creek of urine…there is a problem.  When you have to park miles away from the stadium because you want to avoid fights and getting your car vandalised…yea, BIG problems.

On the bright side, the university and city are trying to improve the situation.  But by the look of that clip, they have a lot of work to do.  I havn’t been to many other college stadiums, except for Lames and that almost doesn’t count.  I have been to Arrowhead Stadium and Giants Stadium as a fan of the opposition, both times wearing a jersey, and the worst I ever got was some minor trash talking.  Nothing that kept me up at night and nothing that made me file any insurance work.

Tell us your worst experience in another teams stadium.  Anything that rivals Columbus?  Let us know!

    At least we’re not ISU…
Like I told Colestal and AndyRam… about the only thing I see going their way is a fucking bullet.

I’m giving 3:1 odds on ISU ‘hunting accidents’ — any takers?

well since the hawks arent worth talking about, how about the colts?! my favorite team, and they have a couple starting hawk alums! and theyre 8-0! this year theyre finally learning that they just cant go out with the same game plan everynight and hope talent wins the games. this year theyre finding new ways to win ball games and he didnt show it last night, but what they’ve really been in dier need of is a good clutch kicker. and no one then adam V. is better for the job.

I love coming to this website, so take this as constructive criticism. This is the stupidest article I have ever read on this site. Has hawkize.com really just posted an article against poor sportsmanship during tailgating?

I watched that whole video and it looks like nothing more than some university propaganda. Sure, some of the people are out of line, but for the most part it looks like normal rowdy tailgating that you would see in Iowa City. I mean sure the hawkeyes aren’t doing that well this season, but have we really gotten to the point where we have to post anti-drinking, anti-tailgating videos made by a university 4 years ago? Personally I would rather be in an environment of excessive drinking and screaming, not some shitty school that hardly tailgates. That video was just an example of good ole’ big 10 tailgating. If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen. If stuff in this video offends you, staying away from the magic bus might be a good option, since its is full of booze, nudity, and profanity and that is just absolutely disgusting! I hope the city cleans up Iowa City tailgating so we don’t end up like OSU

    Ridiculous Nick,
I think you missed the main gist of the article. For one, the video was just recently released. More importantly, I’m not advocating against drinking, booze, profanity, nudity as you mentioned. Believe me, Andyram and Colestal can attest to this, I have no problem with any of those things at tailgating. In fact, I am an active participant in most of those every home game - I’m not much of an exhibitionist.

The point I was trying to make was against the violence and vandalism. I dont think (atleast hope) that the kind of stuff that goes on at OSU isn’t “good ole’ big 10 tailgating” as you put it. Did you also see in the video people selling their game tickets because they “didn’t want anything to happen to them”? Outside the scope of the video, Michigan fans worry about where they park their cars so they don’t get the windows bashed in, and usually have to bite their lip when they get shit yelled at them for fear of getting hit or have something thrown at them. I have talked to many people that have been to most, if not all of the stadiums in the Big 10, and they all say that Columbus is far and away the worst place for visiting fans. I have seen some OSU fans on message boards actually try to defend their behavior by comparing Michigan fans going to Columbus as Americans going to Iraq. Fucking Iraq!! And the sad thing is the dumbasses were serious. I know that kind of stuff doesn’t happen here, we are better than that. My other motivation in writting the article was to show just what a bunch of dumbass, Neanderthal pricks OSU fans really are. I will be a Wolverine, after a Hawkeye of course, come November 18th.

And finally, no one wants to post/talk about losing at home to the worst team in the Big 10. If you can put a positive spin on that Nick, I think you got yourself a job here.

I always kind of wanted to see a game in the Horseshoe… but not so much anymore.
