7000 Rowdy Cyclone Fans Gather for Spring Game
AMES, IA- Athletic Director Jamie Pollard promised a bright future.
He began to deliver on Saturday when 7,000 fans packed Jack Trice Stadium in Ames for the annual Spring Game between ISU’s Cardinal and Gold squads.
“7,000 is a number of epic proportions,” Pollard said while checking his account balance on Usbank.com. “Shit, I’m overdrawn again. Raise ticket prices, Nancy! Anyway, it’s around 6,000 more than we get for a regular season game, so we’re thinking it’s a sign of things to come.”
First-year coach Gene Chizik was optomistic as well.
“Well, we won, didn’t we?” Chizik said, flipping a “down horns” sign at Hawkize reporter Mikehawk. “This is the first time we’ve won the spring game in ten years. I’m building a dynasty here, folks.”
Brett Meyer was picked off seven times in the Cardinal squad’s victory, but managed to smile his way to 26 yards rushing on seven attempts. Although Meyer had a career day at the helm of the offensive squad, the big surprise of the day was Jason Berryman’s return to Cyclone country to watch the team he was booted from twice compete.
“Yah uh U know, uh yah I just wann you know help out Coach and stuff ya know,” Berryman said incoherently when asked about his odds in the NFL.
Hawkize.com caught Berryman getting off the bus.
